The needle meters material by how far it lifts off the fluid nozzle seat, so needle and nozzle have to be the same size and they wear as a pair. Fuji lists a bent needle as a cause of a sluggish trigger, and a worn or damaged needle as a cause of material leaking from the nozzle with the trigger released.
